Sunderland AFC are still searching for a win after going 1-0 down to Middlesbrough this afternoon in the Tees-Wear derby.
The black cats now remain firmly at the bottom of the Championship table after they were defeated on Teesside thanks to Marcus Tavernier’s first league goal for Middlesbrough.
Just shy of 2,500 fans from Wearside made the trip to the Riverside stadium as Sunderlands wait for a much needed win and crucial three points goes on.
It was an early goal from Tavernier in the sixth minute which was enough to decide the match with the game ending 1-0 to the home side.
The derby defeat marks the first time Sunderland have failed to score away from home in the league since August.
However it comes as the black cats are still searching for a new manager after sacking Simon Grayson following Tuesday night’s (31st October) defat at home to Bolton.
