Security Plans Finalised as the North East prepares for the Great North Run
This weekend will see thousands of people from all over the globe descend on the North East for the Run. This weekend will see a two day event including the junior run on Saturday and the main half marathon on the Sunday.
The route starts right in Newcastle, where runners will head over the tyne bridge and they will eventually finish in South Shields along the sea front.
Police, local authorities and transport providers have been working with race organisers to insure to event passes without any incidents.
